Mrs Kanchana Muralidharan was selectedasbest progressive women farmer for the year 2015 by Thinamalar, daily tamil newspaper. Totally 9 persons were selected out of which she is the only female representative. The award function was conducted at Trichy on 21st September 2015.She has beeninvolved in agriculture related activities, She is theorganizer of TANWABE SHG – this group was started by Dept of Agriculture, Sirkazhi and later the group has been adopted by CIKS Sirkazhi since 2007. As an individual, she has family land which is underorganic farmingsince 2008. She has developed back yard kitchen garden and she grows vegetables for home consumption. She is one of the master trainerdeveloped under NABARD Master trainer programme implemented by CIKS during 2010- 2011. She is the back bone of the group activity – community vermicompost production which has become new technology for women livelihood in Tamilnadu. She has trained 60 women SHG from different places viz. Dindugal, kancheepuram, thiruvannamalai, cuddalore, karaikal and from Andrapradesh and Karnataka. The group has been supported under UPNRM programme implemented by SOFA and totally 6 bio gas units were constructed in the backyards of selected women in Allivilagam village.She also represents women share holders of Valanadu as board of director since inception of producer company. She has been actively involved in milk collection activity carried in the village and also in rice value added products preparation. She has been a role model in the village and her involvement has paved way of livelihood for women residing in the village.
